The Coats of Arms index contains entries from the Public Register of All Arms and Bearings in Scotland. Online access covers 1672 to 1907. The register is maintained by the Court of the Lord Lyon in Edinburgh, the office responsible for heraldic matters in Scotland.

Each index entry includes: full name, encompassing forename(s), surname and sometimes title and place of the person who was granted the coat of arms, or applied to rerecord Arms borne by an ancestor; the date when the coat of arms is granted; and the volume and page reference.
