Archivists' Garden opening - ScotlandsPeople Centre, Edinburgh
The Archivists' Garden has long been one of Edinburgh's best kept secrets - until now. It has now been officially opened by one of Scotland's best-loved TV presenters.
The garden is situated between New Register House and General Register House, and we were pleased to welcome the BBC's Beechgrove Garden presenter Jim McColl to do the honours. He planted a tree to mark the official opening.

New Statutory Images now available
We are pleased to announce that statutory images containing records from the Statutory Register of Births for 1909, the Statutory Register of Marriages for 1934, and the Statutory Register of Deaths for 1959 are now available.
Catholic Parish Registers and Modern marriage indexes
We are pleased to announce that the first tranche of Catholic Parish Registers are now online. Please read about them before using them.
We are also pleased to announce that the modern day marriage indexes - NOT IMAGES - 1934-2006 are now available, and corresponding extracts can be ordered. However, customers are advised to read important information regarding extract orders.
Customers should be aware that refunds will generally not be given if an incorrect certificate has been ordered and therefore they should be sure that the document being purchased is the correct one prior to ordering a modern day extract. If you are in any doubt about the accuracy of the document required, you can also order the extract from GROS. The charges and services available are detailed at http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/index.html. under the paragraph providing information about ordering official extracts.
