ScotlandsPeople Centre Scotland's largest family history centre, the ScotlandsPeople Centre, is open in Edinburgh at the east end of Princes Street opposite the Balmoral Hotel.

You can either visit us between 09:00 to 16:30 weekdays for 10GBP per day or we have free two hour introductory sessions from 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 16:00.

It is also possible to visit our shop for gift ideas, books and other mementos or try our Ruthvens cafe, which specialises in tasty tray bakes.

Triple Formula One champion and Scottish sporting legend Sir Jackie Stewart OBE is the final celebrity to be featured in the six-part ‘Famous Scots’ exhibition held in the ScotlandsPeople Centre, Edinburgh, to mark Homecoming Scotland 2009. Experts from the ScotlandsPeople Centre partners will be delving into his family history for the exhibition, which runs until 31 December.
